Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet

This was a fabulous book. I loved it- simple and sweet and poignant. A very quick read, and a trip I would take again into the "war years" and that horrible thing called internment camps. I really enjoy when authors who write about a Chinese or Japanese character seem to capture that essence even with their word choices. Something spare about the descriptions, but still vivid.

As for scrapbooking, I am going to an all day crop next Saturday with the hopes of getting an album either done for Mark's retirement or significantly progressed to a point where I won't be panicking in two weeks. The retirement date has been set- Friday, April 16th. So now there is a deadline. Hoping this crop will motivate me to get all of the pictures scanned and printed and ready for the weekend. I also need to assemble paper and embellishments, etc. Lots to do, but excited for the end product.

Need to read The Road for my book club, kind of putting that one off- not really into the post-apocalyptic literature. I am going to try and read The Art of Racing in the Rain and What the Dog Saw before I have to tackle that one.

Time's up for me- back to cleaning the house before the next week starts!!
